We've never been camping in Arkansas and we're planning to go for 2 weeks in June. We'd like to stay at a park near Hot Springs with a fishing lake, shade trees, and full hookups. We don't particularly want to stay in an RV park. Something like a national or state park is what we'd prefer. Thank you for any recommendations.

Lake Catherine State Park near Hot Springs is good. We have a 37ft class A and had no trouble with room.

Stubeje, is this park in a mountain area or more like hills? We can't pull our trailer up and down mountain roads because our trailer weighs 6,000 lbs. and we have a half ton pickup. We do fine on small hills, just can't do anything too steep. We're hoping to get a different truck next year so we won't have this problem.

We were at Hot Springs last year & stayed at the KOA. The KOA was a nice place to stay, and I would reccomend it. I didn't come across any state or national parks while there.

DeGray lake State Park is about 25 miles from Hot Springs and near Caddo Valley/Arkadelphia. As I remember has water and elecricity at sites and a dump station. Fishing in the lake is Fishing...but if you don't catch any there is a really good eatery called the Fish Net about 4 miles from the camp ground. All of this is on Highway 7 Caddo Valley exit from I 30.

I second Lake Catherine, very clean and quiet. I don't think you will have a problem with your rig. Some hills but the road to the park is between the hills and you should be ok. You can contact the park office at 501-844-4176 and they should be able to help determine best route or address terrain issues. Beautiful park and close to Hot Springs.
