2005 Monaco Executive VIP smartwheel
What do you all know about this.
My horn blew when you set the cruise and pushed the horn button. Turned the headlights and the horn would not blow by depressing the horn button but still blew by turning on the cruise button. The cruise light would not illuminate.
I cleaned the connections with cleaner and now the horn blows by depressing the cruise on off button. The cruise sets by depressing the horn button and will increase in rpm by continual depressing on the horn button. The cruise light will also illuminate? The cruise will turn off by depressing the set button. What in the world? I was going to order a new controller. But thought I would clean the connectors first, What do you all think? When you turn the light on they have no effect on any button on the steering wheel.

Sounds like you have a problem, might be the clock spring. There are a number of threads on this if you do a search VIP smartwheel or clockspring. You might look in the Monaco Owners group.
I recommend you learn as much as possible about the clock spring and VIP smart controller. If you have to pay someone $160 per hour to trouble shoot this it can get expensive.
Like Jim says, learn to use the Advanced Search function in the upper left pull down menu. Start in the Owners Forum-Monaco section. Lots of great advice there.

I'm fairly certain that you have a VIP PC-series. If your steering wheel looks like THIS, then it's a PC. The PC-series were used from the late 90s to the mid-2000s.
The V4-series came out in late 2005 and began being used on 2006 motorhomes; they looked like THIS. I don't believe you will have a V4-series but rather a PC-series.
I've attached a troubleshooting guide for the PC below. It will briefly mention the clock-spring. Like others have said, you'll find quite a few threads on the clock-spring and general VIP troubleshooting if you do a search on this forum.
Be sure you have a multimeter and a 12v test light to perform the troubleshooting exercises.
VIP has a tech help number you can call. You'll be able to talk with a tech who can talk you through some troubleshooting tasks to determine the problem before you start ordering parts.
