Sorry, there is no Hot Water Heater

In the spirit of Twin boat, I have decided to air a grievance of mine.

There is no such device in your RV as a Hot water heater.

You have a water heater.

But is it actually a cold water heater. Since it heats cold water?

Really? This is a road that nobody wants to go down. I know you are right, of course, but that's beside the point.

My water heater is 110 volts. When I turn it on it gets the water hot enough to suit me. But not my wife. So for her I fire up the hot water heater (propane) to get it hot enough to kill lobsters. Or whatever it is my wife does in the bathroom.

I say that to myself every time I see someone post that here. If you use that term on another forum I frequent, a major beat down ensues.

The prevailing wisdom is the phrase is redundant. You don’t heat hot water.
On first glance, that makes sense.

However-, the argument could boil off, so to speak-. You heat hot water until it reaches the temperature it’s supposed to reach. So heating water in a pan it's a water heater.

But Now you need to maintain some level of heat, even sporadically. If you didn’t that hot water would cool down to lukewarm if not cool water. So if the appliance maintains the temperature of the hot water it is technically a Hot Water heater.

I have so seen people use the term(s)

Tankless hot eater heater
Demand hot water heater

rgvtexan 08-03-2020 08:50 AM

In my Texas Casita, the water runs thru the attic. The Tankless water heater, reheats the Hot water a few more degrees. So it must be a Hot Water Heater.

I think Hot might be relative!

See what you've gone and done?! :banghead: :icon_peace:

If a water heater keeps hot water hot (within a couple degree range) would it be a water re-heater?

Couldn't resist. Being ambidextrous I understand you if you call it either way.

At home my hot water heater is located near my soft water softener. ;-)

I suppose you would want to correct me if I said, "I don't know, I'll axe Fred.":whistling:

gatorb8 08-03-2020 09:11 AM

in Florida it is a hot water heater as the cold water is hot this time of year, or should I say all the water is hot this time of year?

Old-Biscuit 08-03-2020 10:17 AM

Hot Water Heater is a correct term

Water is heated to 130*F/140*F then reheated when water temp reaches `110*F

By Industry standards 110*F water is on the low end of HOT
Place your hand under 110*F temo water and determine if it is HOT or not

Salesman Switch, Hot Water Heater-----all good as far as I am concerned.
Too much nick-picking------------
