Duo-Therm/Dometic Heat Pump Replacement

I have a 2002 Newmar Dutch Star diesel pusher with the original Duo-Therm 15K heat pumps. I need to replace one of them but can't seem to find which one would be a direct replacement without modification. I know I will have to replace the computer board on a new Dometic to work with my 5 button thermostat. I called Newmar and they said that they had a Penguin that would be a direct replacement but they wanted over 2100.00 for it. I tried to call Dometic but no luck. It seems that you have to be a dealer to talk to them. I am sure that someone has done this before without paying Newmar two prices for a unit. Does anyone know if all Dometic Penguin units are the same?
Could anyone give me some good advice on their experience with which unit to buy? Thank You in advance for any help you can give.

I replaced both my Dometic Penguin heat pumps with the new Penguin II Hi-capacity heat pumps and the CCC2 thermostat. I chose to buy the 5-year extended warranty because it seems that if these unit fail it's usually right after the 3-year factory warranty expires! I considered the cost of the extended warranty very reasonable.

I got the units from Amazon, I think around $1200 each, plus about $100 for the thermostat. You also need to buy new condensate drain pans as your old ones will be brittle! :thumb::D

Thank You for the information. I never thought about the drain pans. Amazon was out of them but Adventure RV has them in stock for about the same price.
