Thomas compressor 405ADC38/12
My Thomas air compressor is not doing it's job. Runs too long and then doesn't get the coach back level. I have read the other threads about replacing with a Viair model for faster leveling.
My question is what is the degree of difficulty in a DIY replacement? Is there prep work before removing the Thomas? Do the air lines have pressure on them when not in operation? Is there a fuse that should be pulled before starting? Pete Hays has identical coach and he replaced with the 300 series so that would be my choice. Any comments or advice is appreciated. |
The replacement is pretty easy. There is no pressure in the connections to the pump. I did mount the pump in a slightly different position than the original pump. It meant drilling a couple of holes in the floor of the compartment. I've now had the pump installed for 7 years and it is still operating well.

Thanks for the help. I have read your other thread. I'll get one ordered and give it a shot.

I replaced my Thomas compressor with a Viair 300 series compressor. I‘m happy with it overall, but it is much noisier than the Thomas compressor.
