Grand Tetons early June?
 
New to RV and way late on trying to get park reservations for this June. (though not giving up hope yet!)

I'll take Hookup or boondock but not sure what options their are this late in the reservation game AND this early in the season! For example the green river lakes dispersed camping area is still behind closed roads until "Mid June"

I'm trying to make weekends my "travel days" so I'm "camping" from June 7 through the 11th.

Any thoughts, experience, boondocking in the Tetons that early in june, am I asking for trouble?

No one can predict weather - In June it can be very nice... or not. June will be less crowded and you'll see more animals with babies.... a nice time to go. Just pack warm clothes!

Explore this site thoroughly for lots of good information. This link gives the weather - 71 tomorrow, May 6 but cold nights. It also gives 'historical' numbers in the chart.

You can't boondock in the national park. You'll have to get a campground or boondock outside the park on national forest land.

Gros Ventre and Colter Bay campgrounds each have 300 sites - dry camping except for a few electric in Gros Ventre. Colter Bay RV has hookups along with Headwaters RV in the park.

Since you're planning to be in the park 5 days and if you want to drive to Yellowstone one of those days - (highly recommended), staying at a campground in the northern section of Teton NP would save some driving miles and time. Gros Ventre is a little farther south but not that many additional miles. I wouldn't recommended staying outside the park with your limited days.

Thanks for the tips!
Definitely modifying plans to take advantage of the various ideas. Staying longer 3rd -> 12th. Plan is to stay around north end of the park and taking a few day trips into Yellowstone. Getting EXCITED. 2nd trip in the rig starts tomorrow. A short jaunt out to the Oregon coast.

Might be a bit cool
But less crowds
Road might still be closed if they get snow

The park roads will be open in June. They won't close them again even if it snows. The snow will melt fast at that time of year.

woho. Booked 3 nights at headwaters cg. (first three nights of the trip, relaxing start after a hard drive)
