As I read your post , you are burning 9 liters of LPG to go 14km .

That converts to 8.6 miles per 2+ gallons of petrol .

It appears on LPG you are getting approximately 4.25 mpg .

Cost wise , as long as LPG costs less than half the cost of petrol you might break even on fuel cost but burn a lot more fuel in the process .

Please correct me if I have misunderstood the numbers.

We are in Miles in UK. In UK a Gallon is 4.5ltrs

Ok try and make it easier and should of added to post as might of stopped any confusion.

UK petrol costs per Litre is around 1.20 upwards
LPG costs per litre is around 0.60 upwards

So a Gallon of petrol 4.5ltrs, equates to 9 ltrs of Lpg rough same cost.

So if we travel 7/8 miles on a gallon of petrol , On Lpg same cost we can travel 14 miles.

In theory we save cost of a gallon of petrol. ??.

Thank you for the clarification .

Here in the States our petrol and propane costs per gallon are similar .

Propane National average $2.50 - $3.50 gal.

Gasoline National average $2.85 gal. regular.

For this reason on this side of the pond you don't see many propane fueled RV's.

Haven't driven much in England except for London . Have driven extensively through Ireland . Have found your Expressways to be a joy to drive on . However , the secondary roads are a real adventure but worth it for the amazing scenery.

Thanks. Glad we got the technical sorted.

We try to avoid Motorways (Expressways I think). Use the smaller roads as you say better scenery, and we are not in a hurry to get anywhere.
Lived in the Rv for 14 years now and love the life. Rent out our property's which helps our life style. We normally spend 6 months each year ( before the Lurgie spoilt it) in Australia where we have a Rv there so can travel around.

Next few years hoping to get back to USA, buy a Rv and again do 6 month stints exploring.

Thought about 7 to 8 on the v10. As we will be looking for a B or C class for extended trips in USA, are the Chevy v8s any better on fuel.

Give you an idea (My latest trip)

Renton, Wa. - Sedona, Az

Total miles - 3099 (US) miles

Total days - 18 (Dec 21, 2020 - Jan 7, 2021)

Total oil consumed - ~ 1/2qt (454 TBI 7.4L w/4L80E) 1994 Fleetwood Southwind Storm 28ft (using Valvoline full synthetic 10w-30)

Total fuel cost - $1008.XX (Lowest price paid for gas was $1.75 per gallon just outside of Laughlin.) That was end of Dec 2020

Odometer on RV currently - 68,295

MPG - low of 7.77mpg and a high of 9.70mpg

High MPG was between Livermore, Ca. and Bakersfield, Ca. On the overall trip I hit the 9.XX range (3) times. After Sedona, Az. I headed south and skirted Phoenix then onto Huntington Beach, Ca. (real home). There for a few days then headed north back to Renton (home away from real home).
