Figuring out what a 2018 Ford Expedition can realistically tow

Hi,

Excuse my ignorance as have no experince towing a trailer, have lots of experience towing a Jeep Wrangler behind a motorhome.

I have a 2018 Expedition Limited 4x4 and trying to figure
out what I can realistically tow.

The door sticker says Front GAWR is 3375lbs and rear Gawr is 4380lbs. Gvwr is 7450lbs.

The SUV does come with a tow package.

Thanks,

What does the other door sticker say on it?

It says occupants and cargo should not be more than 1467lbs.

See if this helps you.

I would think the Expedition would have a tow rating in at least the 7K range, but I may be weigh off base.

I think I remember now how it works. I take all contents of the SUV and the tongue weight of the trailer and add the two together.

You also need to add in the weight of the trailer and compare to the GCWR.

Thanks, I did not see a GCWR on the sticker.

I'd say probably under 7K on the trailer fully loaded (GVWR) and under 25 ft. and a WDH with antisway.

Thanks

What I am looking at is 4100lbs dry and 25ft long.

We are looking for something much smaller than our 38ft class A MH.

Need to double check but fairly sure it came with the heavy duty tow package.

Look closely at the numbers those above have mentioned but I think you would probably be OK. We tow with a Yukon which is similar in size and capacity. Does alright although there are times I wish I had gotten the XL with a longer wheelbase. But the wife got to veto that since it is her daily driver. Also the reason we didn't get a pickup. And I can't go as fast as the diesels up the hills but I'm in no hurry.

According to the 2018 Trailer Life Towing Guide, there are 5 Ford 4x4 Expeditions and the tow ratings run between anywhere between 5,900 lbs and 9,300 lbs depending how they are equipped.

Thanks all,

I do appreciate the help.

I have an XLT, short wheelbase and it pulls very well, just a gentle push sometimes when big rigs pass. LT tires and Equilizer 4 way (properly dialed in) are the key. IMHO don’t go over 25’! The Ecoboost is unstoppable!...
