I-70 Closed in CO

Need to travel from Mohab to Cow Creek Campground(highway 9 in Co) tomorrow but looks like a bad mudslide around Glenwood Springs has i70 closed. Any good options for detour driving a 40ft madp pulling a jeep?

WOW! that is a big detour.

I live in CO and travel those roads extensively. However, there are not many roads, which I am sure you found, to detour the canyons. I don't have any good news for you. I do know they work fast to clear I-70 as it is a major interstate commerce route. Bonus, it is great country to travel through.

If possible I would stay in Mohab until the road opens. Traffic on the alternatives is going to be epic. If you have to be on the road tomorrow I would detour to the north and take US40 east. The southern alternative, US50 appears to be a bit longer plus there are closures scheduled for construction during the work week so no telling what the road will be like.

Third choice, Colorado Route 82, is restricted to vehicle 35' and under. Best to not push length limits as they are usually associated with very tight turns you won't be able to negotiate, successfully.

Thanks Google detours me to 13 then 40, then 9 down to Cow Creek. Looks like pretty drive and is about the same time as the route via i70...... Thanks!

You definitely don't want CO82. That goes across Independence Pass and in addition to tight turns there are places barely wide enough for two cars to meet.

They have their own twitter account. Here is the recommended route from CDOT (first time I attached a file, not sure how it comes up).
