I-70 East of Indy
Last week I was headed East on I 70 betwen Indianapolis and Richmond, In.
There was construction about half way between Indy and Richmond.
Sat in it for about 1 hour, and when I got out of the bottleneck, saw that the W.B traffic was backed up for about 5 miles. The traffic was 1 lane both directions.
I will be going thru this area again next week.
Doesnt look as if it will be completed soon.
Is US 40 a viable alternative route? Will have the trailer behind me.
I can pick up US 40 in Richmond and run it to I 65/70 in town.
Hy 40 is a very good road. It goes thru several small towns with a lot of historical homes and buildings. Remember it was the old national road. It is an enjoyable drive. Very easy drive. I live about 5 miles north of hy 40
vanmark, Thanks for the info.
I was on US 40 for a couple miles before the construction zone fiasco.
If it is nice like this all the way to Richmond, It will be worth the detour.
That section of I-70 has been atrocious since I started RV-ing 20 years ago. If it's not full of potholes that'd jar your cabinets off the walls, it's under construction & a nightmare to get through. Kept trying it every now & then but it never got better. I'd avoid it at all costs.
