Done with MH
Im going back to a 5th wheel, these things are just not worth the hassle anymore. Put a reman ECM in back in May, now it will not start again, i think the ECM is bad again. If some one forks over 12 grand they can have this thing. Tired of paying $600 a year for insurance when i barely use this 3 times a year.

What brand and size? Any pics?

Well that is one way to sell a vehicle. First tell everyone what a piece of ---- it is and then don't give any type of description of what you want to sell. Hey, I got $11,000 sitting around, will you take it?

Have you researched possible reasons why the ECM would burnout?
Maybe the fix is in a service bulletin. Might just pay to check into it a little more. Then get it running and sell it. It is a sellers market for motorhomes right now Well this summer was anyhow. I am sure it is slowing down, but still good. |

"barely use it 3 times a year?" I'd sell it too, but why invest in something else that is going to sit around going un-used?

Update on this, i have not touched the MH since i started this thread, went out 2 days ago, started right up. I got gremlins, buddy said i may have had a serious vapor lock and it took a few days to get out. Still looking to fix it up if i can find the body panels and sell.
|
Didn't know a diesel could get vapor lock. Interesting
|
I'd say if you use the MH so rarely, you'd definitely be better off with a 5th wheel.
I also didn't know that a diesel engine could suffer of vapour lock...Learned something new today. |
If the transient suppressor was not replaced at the same time as the ECM it was asking for trouble. Cummins will not replace the ECM, lift pump or main pump unless the transient suppressor is also replaced, nor will they honor any of those parts warranty.
I can't speak to CAT engines. |
