Torsion axle bracket welds cracking [emoji15]
Well, just doing some regular maintenance before departing on another year of full timing; checking for any wheel bearing play, grease, checking brakes, etc., much to our surprise we found axle bracket weld cracks on left side of both axles ( see pic's). Right side of both axles seems okay.
So, do you think these can be re-welded on the torsion axle if done in short welds and quickly cooled?? We're kinda in a jam now, I don't even see these axles with similar brackets online...I feel that welding would be okay.

Competent welding should be able to fix that easily.
Those are filled with rubber.
However short welding with immediate water cooling should work ok.
I would have water running on the tube while welding with the water flowing just off of where the welding is being done. Then bring the water to the weld as soon as the arc stops.
Even if a small amount of rubber does get burnt inside they should still work fine.
In the end however, it will need replacing.
