Trickle charger question
Hey all.... I am having our Dutch Star put into heated storage next week. They will provide a trickle charger for the chassis batteries. They DO NOT allow the use of the 50AMP cord at all.

Question, Can I connect a 12V trickle to my 6V house batteries as long as I connect to 12V points in the array? Also, will 12V trickle charger be sufficient to keep my (8) 6 volt batteries happy for the next 6 mos?

Pulling 8 batteries out is a hassle!

Thanks for your answers.

How many amps does the trickle charger put out at maximum? To keep the 8 batteries at float will probably take at least 4 amps. That is about what my magnum charger says itís using at float voltage for my bank of 8 batteries

Yes, hook to the 12 volt points.

Hook the charger up and see if you get more the 12.7 to 12.8 volts to the batteries.

If yes, your house batteries will be fine.

You will need 13.4 volts to close the bridging solenoid and keep the chassis batteries charged too.

I don't know why the storage facility would object to the cord you use. For a trickle charger, you could use a household extension cord or a 50 amp cord....
