Lacaster County PA Campground Review

Beacon Hill Campground

Intercouse PA

STATE OF THE PARK

This campground in Lancaster County PA is a tranquil spot of incredible beauty, kindness and horse and buggies. This gem of a campground is nestled next to an Amish farm on a gentle rise overlooking an area where adventure, great food, excellent shops, greenhouses bursting with color, and aromatic pastures all paint this campground with a lush glow of charm.

Quiet Adult Camping awaits your arrival

Beacon Hill delivers on all the important points that the newbie, seasoned or full timer would want. They have the cleanest bath houses ever!! The sites are level enough where you would only need minimal leveling adjustments. Sites are spread out on two tiers connected by sturdy stairs leading up to the office where there are 18 sites and three cabins. Or heading down the stairs to the dog park, there are 18 sites suited for the larger rigs. Whichever way you head on the stairs, take time to sit at the fire pit which serves as a gathering place for campers to share adventures with one another.*

Sites are close but the feeling of being too close is diminished by the charming landscape and amazing vistas surrounding the campground. There are thirteen 30 amp and twentyone 50 amp sites to pick from. All sites are full hookups.* No concerns whatsoever to move. go dump and refill the water. Once you are set up, no need to move the rig. AND THAT IS* THE POINT!!

Office staff are friendly and everything you need to know is at your fingertips as you step up to the office. Staff are known to call to confirm arrivals if you are running later than expected. They want you to be assured upon arrival especially if the office is closed. You set up, rest and check in the next day. Let’s be real... As much camping as we have done over the years, a call from the campground because we are running late never happens. Yes we all get the standard note posted at the gate but a phone call??? Who does THAT??*

The attention to detail translates to - no concerns whatsoever. That is the campground experience that awaits the ever growing quest for rest, peace, tranquility and adventure. This awaits from the moment you arrive and no matter the mode of transport for your adventure away from the campground, it is here where you find space for those who love to wander.

Location, location, location.

Beacon Hill is right sized in the right spot and timing is everything. For example, on some days, just in time to enjoy the evening cool down, the nite cap arrives. My wife and I were sharing a bottle of wine and relaxing after dinner enjoying the evening air. We had returned from a long day of exploring the countryside, ate dinner outside and were relaxing inside the camper with all windows open. During our winding down, the thought of dessert came to mind. Soon thereafter she noticed off to the side around the small bend of the entrance, the appearance of a horse and buggy. Since we are from the area to begin with, we were not overly excited as others might be who may have not seen this as often as we had. As the buggy lurched forward into full view outside our window, we noticed fellow campers flocking to the back of the horse drawn wagon. Campers were walking away with goodies. We sprang into action to get in on the farm fresh goods. Ahhhh, the fresh baked goods, fruit and vegetables from a nearby Amish family had arrived AND topped off with warm sticky buns !!! It was here in this campground we had for the first time a doughnut peach. WOW...we ate those right up without remorse. We captured just the right stuff at just the right time.*

Getting to Beacon Hill is an easy drive from all directions from any major city. The well known highways give way to farm country. Along the route we take to Beacon Hill, we pass a farm where there is a miniature horse. We noticed him one day when we were behind a team of draft horses. That little guy saw those massive horses pulling a huge wagon into the farm and began to excitedly prance alongside them as far as his pen allowed. I swear he was saying “I missed you guys...where ya been...can I go next time”. We look for that little guy everytime we go over to Beacon Hill.

Despite the picturesque farming area, make no mistake this same area where the campground rests is bustling with touristy activities, restaurants in abundance, Amish roadside stands, greenhouses, dairies with some of the freshest ice cream you could ever find and much much more. Way more than this post can get into. If you would like more information on the surrounding area, click on the following link https://lancasterpa.com/intercourse/ and you will immediately agree that Beacon Hill campground is in the perfect location.*

i almost fell asleep reading that. it read like a cross between a fairy tale story and a chevy commercial from the 60's. but all in all, it sounds like a nice area
