Cover or no cover

Going into my first winter. Should I cover the rig or not?
My biggest issue is I've heard the covers scratch up the TT.
I live in the midwest with harsh winters.
What are the best covers?

Another consideration is the weight of cover. A quality cover can weigh 50 lbs. That could be a challenge when trying to get it rolled out on a roof.
I opted not to get one, mainly because getting it on and off sounded like a royal pain.

I use a cover because I don't like my TT getting rained on and off for 5 months. Yes the covers not 100% waterproof but the cover adds a layer of protection. I've been covering my trailers for 10+ years without issue. Yes they're heavy and the bigger the TT the heavier. I tape tennis balls to the gutter down spouts to keep the cover from tearing.
I also sinch it up fairly tight so the wind doesn't move it much. No issues with damage to any of my trailers from having a cover on.
I'm in Oregon FWIW.

We have five huge oaks on the property. Yes we cover our trailer or the dam acorns and leaves damage my roof. Paid 300 for the cover and only had it for a year. So far I love it.
Yes that a tarp over the cover. Keeps the squirrel pee and bird poop off the cover.Attachment 346333

Thanks, and my wife agrees about the microwave.

Thanks for your reply. Love the tennis balls on the gutters. what's the brand name of the cover?

Thanks and double tarping the roof makes sense.

This is the cover I have. Looks like it's out of stock for good though.

We use ADCO covers. We get about 5 years out if it before having to replace. Biggest protection is really against UV damage from the sun. It also helps keep it clean in our experience. We've used a cover for nearly 20 years and worth the extra effort IMHO.
