Disappointed With Towing
Pulling a full size Denali Pickup behind a 21 MA and surprised how much of a struggle it is in the hills of NC. Is there anyone else pulling something similar? If so, how's your performance?

What is a 21MA ?

Mountain Aire

That's surprising.....I really wanted an MA for the 500HP and 1800lbs of torque. It's got to pull better than my DS towing my 6100 pound Raptor. The grades out west slow me down to 45-50 mph on 6% and down in the high 30's to low 40's on 7% grades and better.
What speeds are you talking about. |
I'm doing 40ish on a 6% grade but there is one hill, I assume it's a 7%, I'm doing 30 at the best

Are you monitoring your turbo, that can tell you if your turbo is working. My 22 NA has also % of the torque. I went from a 600 hp London Aire to a 450 pulling the same toad I didn’t see any difference. Of course the NA weighs a lot less.

Something isn't right. You should be pulling those hills in the 50's or better. The extra 50HP you have over me is not a big deal, but you have almost 600 pounds more torque.
I do shift mine....I typically drop it to fifth at the base of most grades and then let it shift on it's own after that. I leave the cruise control all the time. |
High 40 to 50ish is what I was expecting. Wonder if I take it to a Cummins shop if they can hook it up to whatever and see if anything is wrong?

Wow you guys are towing some weight with those toads :) Very nice setups!
