1977 dodge 440 engine rebuild

Engine had low compression. Quoted $11,000 to rebuild the engine.

How difficult is it to have the engine removed? I think this is the bulk of the cost

Thank you

What vehicle?

Rebuild, or swap with a reman?

Class A chassis or Class C ?

I've done both , neither are easy .

Engines are different , although the same displacement .:whistling:

Kwilly,
Your question is well-meaning, but you might as well have asked "how deep is a river?"
Dodge 440s were in a lot of older coaches.
For a Clark, they come out the front are about a 2 hour pull.
For a Travco, they come mostly out the front, but are about a 4 hour pull.
For a FMC (not all are Dodge, they go out the back and it is a bout a 6 hour pull and really needs a lift.
BBC (440, 413) parts are still available, but not at store front places.

So, we can guess, but the 10k$us quote is about 5k too high.
Best of luck there.

Frank
