To Tag or Not to Tag......in Snow Anyway!

Just had 26" of snow. Leaving in AM. Road to highway is only two blocks and clear except for a bit of slush w/some compacted snow (perhaps 2-3" deep). Have a Class A, 42' diesel coach w/tag axle. What is best: leave tag DOWN to balance weight on rear of coach or, RAISE tag to place all weight on drive axle? It's a private road, only one lane (barely) and getting stuck will not boad well for my otherwise friendly neighbors. Your suggetstions would be deeply appreciated.

If the road is not level and you are moving slowly you are more likely to loose traction with the tag down. My brother is a tour bus driver and says he always raises the tag in snow, under any circumstances to put more weight on the drive tires.

How fast do you intend to drive? Your tag will come down automatically once you reach a certain speed, I think it is 10MPH

Thanks guys. Sounds like it might be best to raise the tag. Speed will not exceed 5 miles an hour or so. Just need to get to the highway which is close by. Appreciate the help!
