We took the motorhome to our town parade last week. The parade is at 7:00pm and the floats are all lit up. Our oldest dd was marching with her band, and our middle dd was singing with her choir.

Before the parade they close off a small parking lot and set up a "Christmas Alley". Arts and crafts, cookies to decorate, Santa's reindeer, local performers, etc.

My mom and stepmom have always wanted to come, but for health reasons can't take the cold. So this year we tailgated with the motorhome. We made a deal with a small car dealer right in town and he let us park our motorhome in his driveway in exchange for keeping an eye on things and making sure people weren't sitting on the cars or causing trouble.

It worked out sooooo well. Chad, my dad and stepdad grilled hot dogs and brats outside, we set up camping chairs near the road, and angled the motorhome so that my moms could see the parade from the dinette and couch inside.

We had a bathroom to use (used jugs of water for flushing and baby wipes for hand washing). The furnace kept it toasty inside. We also brought Thanksgiving leftovers and heated them up in the microwave. I brought water along and we made our own hot chocolate (no more waiting in long lines for it).

We were about 3 blocks from the downtown action so it was easy to walk down and check everything out. Some of us sat outside for the parade (It was only 30 degrees at parade time so we were bundled in blankets.

When the parade was over and everyone was fighting traffic...we were eating pumpkin pie waiting for the roads to clear.

I am totally spoiled now and this is the ONLY way to see a cold weather parade https://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif

Hi All,

Wow it sounds like you all had a great time, it is allways nice to use the MH even if only for a little bit of time https://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif !! It is also nice that due to you haveing the MH you were able to share fine family fun with those who would not be able to enjoy such time due to medical problems https://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif https://irv2.infopop.cc/images/sign0098.gif !!!!!!!!!!! We have used ours also for such things as tailgateing at sporting events and concerts https://irv2.infopop.cc/images/thumb.gif Also while sitting on the hwy due to a bad accident for a long time, it gave us the abilty to help others, that were only in cars with snacks, drinks and a bathroom https://irv2.infopop.cc/images/thumb.gif !!!!!!!

Al,

Do you take all of those pets with you camping ?? https://irv2.infopop.cc/images/eek5.gif LOL.

I would love to try tailgating next year to the Michigan/MSU game in Ann Arbor. Just have to convince my hubby the $125 is worth it. Isn't it usually the man who has to justify football ?? LOL https://irv2.infopop.cc/images/laugh.gif

We take our to the annual parade of lights on the VA beach Boardwalk. The coach idles at just the right speed so all I have to do is steer. The family parties in the back and the kids can see everything out the windows. The youngest will stand next tothe drivers and passenger seats and the windows are perfect to rest their elbows on.

The motorhomes are good for many things besides camping. We took ours to do the Christmas shopping. The wife did the shopping and I just laid around in the motorhome and watched my ball games, that way everyone is happy.

I love it Joe !!!

I usually go into the mall and sit on a bench---

You got a much better idea https://irv2.infopop.cc/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

I just converted both TV's to high definition, I guess I'll pick up on your idea

Cheers

That sounds great Shannone! I especially like the idea of doing a deal with the car yard to park in exchange for security.

One question, why did you flush with jugs of water instead of using the pump and on-board water supply?

Max Hubrich 11-27-2007 05:52 PM

Gary, I wondered the same thing--

Then I figured they had already winterized the rig and did't want to fool with it again this season

Oh--right. I keep forgetting that some of you live in parts of the country that get all that white stuff on the ground. I've never had to winterize (wouldn't even know where to start).
