It's probably on a Dynomax and has a mechanical injected 8.3L Cummins,

Cummins made the 8.3L engine in a 275hp, 300hp and 325hp verssions in pre electronic engines.
Mine has a 6CTA 325hp...

Made it to a Cummins authorized and transmission shop. They are going to look at it tonight. Says it is most likely an electrical issue probably corrosion.
We report back when resolved.

My 97 Allure had badly cracked airbags. So changed them out in 2015, guess that would be at 18 years old and 85k miles.
So yes they do age out.
