It should unscrew where the grips are, if it doesn't maybe somebody glued it for some reason? If that's the case you can saw the pipe off and get a short piece of PVC with the new valve.

I had a similar problem and called Lippert support, the tech took me through several checks and discovered it was a corroded wire to the controller, he was very helpful. Good luck!
