Sounds like new clamps are on my "to order" list for next filter change. This is a 2015 rig so not much rust yet. I did coat the threads with Boeing T-9 hoping it would make next replacement easier....

My educated guess: the plastic panel is a rock guard to protect radiator fins. So unless the radiator is being replaced, the panel should be just as permanent. Guess I'm "stuck with the decision"...
