I agree with your sentiment about the LI-225 BIM. I believe it is 15 minutes on and 20 minutes off, however. For the uneducated, ie. me, the trade off is not overworking the alternator...

The oasis has two electric elements vs one for the AH 450.

I travelled for 5 months this past summer and never ran the diesel except to exercise....
