He’s mistaken. Some new pumps come with a pre-filter. It will help protect the HEUI, but it does nothing to protect your fuel rail in the event of a HEUI failure. The IFS kit is the only post-filter...

Just my two cents, this is exactly why I installed the IFS kit from George of Delam Solutions. It’s designed to trap the metal fragments from a failing HEUI pump, limiting the overall damage.

I was worried about that exact issue if I ever needed the light in an emergency, so I velcroed the remote to my dash. I’ve never needed it, but it’s there if I do.
