Camping - Wet soggy site - Best way to adapt?

2008 Tiffin Phaeton 40’ DP class A
My son lives in MS & has a farm
We stay there a month in the spring & a month in the fall
It rains incessantly & there’s no drainage
Even between rains the ground is soggy
It makes every thing a mess & is just unpleasant
If it’s not raining the big exterior mat helps
I’ve thought about building some kind of raised patio
There are many campgrounds with grass or gravel pads that can be soggy when it rains

Has anybody found some approach that makes a soggy site tolerable?

Have him put a concrete pad in or put a nice draining gravel pad in.
A raised gravel pad with drainage is best.
Gravel is cheaper.
I never in 14 yrs parked my Diesel motorhome on grass, never will

Take the top soil off. Put drain tile around the outer perimeter and drain towards where ever the land slopes or put in a dry well. Dump 2s compact, 57s on top compact. Basically a good base if you want to eventually put concrete in. Just dumping stone onto of dirt won’t support a heavy vehicle.

We never parked on grass. A good gravel base for the RV and for your sitting area is what you need.

I hate grass period! When I had a 5th wheel went to campground with only grass. It had rained the day before, no drainage almost got stuck trying to park. I ended up leaving just was not worth it. Went to a GS rally parked on grass with my MH. Put my small lego blocks under the jacks for a larger foot print. During the rally it rained and rained etc. My jacks with legos sunk about 2 inchs I was very lucky to get out. There were other folks with MH that were not so lucky.

After that I went home and ordered larger heavy duty jack pads. Not saying they would help on grass but did give me a little feeling of security.

As for your problem you have gotten some good advise, if its a yearly thing I would pick concrete over gravel. But your son lives on a farm maybe his access to gravel is better.

Good Luck
