Dometic refrigerator heating element

2013 View 24G, Dometic RML8555 refrigerator: Need to replace 120vac heating element but it appears there is not enough access from outside. Can the refrigerator slide out from the front and allow access to the back?

Getting to it from the back isn’t easy, but doable - and a whole lot easier than pulling the unit out.

On our unit (not an 8555 but a 12xx), following the repair manual, you have to remove some metal shields by bending tabs over. Not easy to get to, but it can be done. It sometimes takes some ingenuity to get things apart - and then again to get it back together. And you want to be certain to put it back together per the instruction sheet - all removed pieces back in place and tabs bent to secure everything together. Be certain to pack up the insulation back in as it was the best you can.

You can probably find the repair manual for download, either in the Files section of this board or just some diligent web searching by model number.
