Grand Design Reflection Build Quality

Hello Everyone, I have been around this forum for many years and currently own a 2007 Winnebago Voyage 35L class A motorhome that will likely be for sale soon. We are looking to downsize and looking at fifth wheels like the Grand Design Reflection. I would like to hear both the good and the bad form owners experiences as part of my research. Thank you!

We just picked our 337 up on Friday and pulled it a 100 miles home.
Seemed a lot sturdier than a lot of others we looked at but time will tell. I hope it ends up being a good buy.

Trailer life magazine rated them #1 last year for consumer satisfaction. Not sure if that's is because of them being a " paid advertiser " or not! I am sure you could make a lot worse choice in my opinion .

I can say this. My wife who really did not care about brands or know about them just had me cancel a Jayco Eagle (TT) and switch to a Grand Design Reflection 5th wheel. And really for only a few reasons. She likes their customer service (we already had a grand design), she likes their layout more than the other brands, and she told me that the grand design just had a better feel to it. She literally told me at the dealership months after the order was placed that she did not want a Jayco and that she preferred to stick with the GD brand. While it’s obviously anecdotal, I think it speaks for how they come across as a brand to people who aren’t very RV savvy.

We had had a ‘17 27RL for about a year. Bought new. Had one shower door roller replaced under warranty. Nothing else. Traded it in on another GD fifth wheel to get a few more amenities , the big one being a bed slide.

Grand Design build Quality

As for how a Grand Design is put together in production, it’s pretty much the same as all the other RV manufacturers. Upon thurogh inspection of any of the brands a missed staple, brad, screw or a water line leak can be found.

For us it was the interior finish, cabinet hardware, flooring and color scheme all while maintaining a balance of weight and functionality.
The exterior was not to overly decaled up and offers a nice smooth finish.
The frame and suspension like many others are built with a price point in mind but well matched to the intended GVWR.

My only negative is they could do a better job at sealing potential air infiltration. Example the tool bay between the landing gear legs is under the bed, well inspect for yourself. Any where an access hole was made roof, walls and floors does not have any insulation butting up to the piping.

Grand Design met and exceeded our touring style with the 273 MK

We have a 18 GD Reflection 150 series 230RL. Pull it easily with a 17 Ram 5.7L long box. Good combination. Almost no issues. The owner, my SIL, pulled the dinette window out instead of sideways and broke it. Though out of warranty GD sent us a new expensive window. I installed it. She has had GD only parties, she loves it and talks to everyone with one.
