Slide Toppers 2003 Holiday Rambler
I own a Holiday Rambler Endeavor 2003 model year. It has 2 slideouts each equipped with Carefree of Colorado Omega I slide out topper/awnings.
One works perfectly but the longer one over the living room area has bent arm assemblies. I also noted that the arm assemblies on the living room portion are mounted about 1/2 inch lower on the slide out than the bedroom slide out mounts. The original owner of the coach is deceased but I am pretty sure the topper/awning assembly came from the factory as is. Why one would be mounted so much lower is a mystery to me. Just sloppiness?
As a result when the awning rolls up as the slide out is retracted, it rests on the top of the slide out wall and I am guessing this is a reason for the arms to have bent.
Now for my question: I see several possible solutions.
1. Remount the arm assembly brackets and raise them up 1/2 inch. This means drilling new holes in the slide out for the brackets to attach. I do not relish the thought.
2. Replace the arms. I found a place in FL that carries them.
3. Switch the arms from left to right. This assumes that they are identical and I am told they are. It would mean that instead of being bent inward, they now would be bent outward.
4. Remove the arms and attempt to straighten them. Can this be done safely with aluminum?
Has anyone had the problem I have? What was your solution?
Thanks for any wisdom anyone can share.
