Towing with a van? Check in!
after looking I didn't see a thread for people with vans that tow...
If there is a thread, please link it?
So do you tow with a van?
Have a description?
Have some pictures?
I have this feeling that it's a small group
I'll start it off...
2000 E350 7.3PSD 782,000 miles on it.
(inside my van, 2002 XR650L and storage)
2007 KZ Sportsman 2604.
Connected with a Equal-i-zer Hitch 1200/12000lbs.

I towed a 1992 Aljo Model 2900 for a couple of seasons with a 1993 Ford 1/2T Château Club Wagon. The van has a 351 CID engine. The tow vehicle was very comfortable for our family however that said I would have rather have gotten the 1T. The van was a 2 tone light and dark blue. In 04 they changed the grill.
One thing that I liked about our van is that Ford provided the tow brake wiring and a modular plug pigtail. (blue wire) All I did was splice in the controller and I plugged it into the OE harness. It worked great.
At the time I was towing using a Pullright Hitch. Nice piece of iron. This phase of our RV experience precedes iRV2 by a number of years. At the time I was STDN56A on Prodigy or P* as we used to call it.

I'm back with another van...
The 2000 made to 785,075 and the cam walked.
Now the 2005 with V10 is my new tow/do it all vehicle and I'm impressed.

My friend's father tows an Airstream Argosey with a 1996 E-350 XL 12-passenger van. It's a diesel, a former airport shuttle, a base model with crank windows, vinyl seats, no carpet...only options are the diesel, rear HVAC, cruise/tilt, ABS, and a passenger-side (only) running board. He has just over 490,000 miles.

We tow with a van too. We have a 97 Chevy with low mileage. We added a super huge tranny cooler and so far she pulls great.

We tow, too!
We had a 2000 Chevy Astro we towed everything with- 27' pontoons, loaded u-haul trailers...whatever. It was awesome...such a little power house. But our family out-grew it (or my nerves became too frayed to deal with the "he's touching me"s) and we up-sized to a 2006 E350 diesel 6.0, 9 passenger conversion. So far, we've not towed anything with it. I can't wait, though!! We're in the market for a bunk house tt, 30+ ft long. I need 4 bunks. I want a king size bed for us & baby, and I want a u-shaped dinette for us to all be able to eat together. I have my eye on a Keystone Sprinter 311bhs. Maybe soon I'll have some pics of The Beast and....hmm, I need to name our tt! I can't very well call it The Insane Asylum or The Zoo.

Bbasso. Thx for starting this thread! I don't currently tow with a van but have started thinking about it over the last few weeks, excited to see what others are doing. Nice pics and idea, thought maybe I was " off my rocker" cause everyone is talking about pulling with trucks and big suv's.
Also, I hate to piggy back off your thread, but anyone have input on 4wd vans, that would be a great setup for my situation. Thx again.

Bye, Beast!
Well, we got our travel trailer, a Keystone 35bhs. We used The Beast to bring it home to S. Texas from GA and decided we needed a different tow vehicle. I think the van is an awesome vehicle, especially for our crew, but we're going to be towing a 9Klb, unloaded, tt through the Rockies, and The Beast could barely handle the very mild hills we crossed along I-20W from Atlanta to Jackson, Ms. So, we got an Excursion, and are looking for a new home for The Beast.

There is lots of info about 4X4 vans...
Try 4x4 Van Conversion kits Sportsmobile Custom Camper Vans - Your Home Away From Home for starters.
