We're Back Home.....

We'll were back home in Santa Cruz............

Yep, L.A. traffic sucks, especially on weekdays. Montclair was in an interesting
town......... actually it was a pretty nice place with views of snow covered mountains,
seemingly close by, to the north.

We got in on Friday evening 15 minutes before Giant RV they closed. "Internet Bob"
and Ernie Welch helped us unload our camping stuff, posts and pans, chairs, tables,
clothes, etc. from our truck into the new rig. We stayed at the Claremont Hotel Friday
night and somehow had our room upgraded to two queen size beds. Wonderful room
and and a nice breakfast (special order omelets) and all for $49 on Expedia.com.
The hotel was 10 minutes from Giant.

Oh, Friday night dinner was at Buca di Beppo which Bob had recommended.
It was superb and lots of good Italian food. We got a tour of the kitchen......
every one does ;- ) The restaurant was probably 250' from our hotel room.
Sweet deal.

Saturday morning at 9:30 we drove up to Giant and our rig was sitting there, spotless.
I went over it with a tooth comb and there was not one flaw with the exterior or the interior.
The underbelly was almost as pretty and detailed as my 56 Nomad.

All you ney sayers....... Giant was incredible! Everyone
that helped us on the lot was 110% on top their game of getting us loaded up
and ready to roll. The technical guy, (Lee) who shows you how to work everything
spent as much time as I needed.

The Reese hitch that I had installed, was not working properly and they had a
two service guys come over and fix the problem. That was on their nickel.

Even though Ernie was our salesman, his fellow sales guys, Al and Bob both
spend time with us answering all the questions I could throw at them and we never
felt rushed.

Lady Di and I camped out last night and got home about 2:00 this afternoon and
of course we were keeping Sandy Feet and Nicky updated by the hour. They came
over to the house just after we got home to kick tires and stuff....... We gave them the
$100 tour and then of course the neighbors had to come over and see what was
this new monster was all about.

Then calamity struck........ Nicky was admiring all the graphics and told me something
was mighty wrong. Just to the left of the entry door is where Weekend Warrior places
the model number in black lettering. Son of a gun, Nicky points to the model number
and low and behold........ it's a LE3105 and not LE3305 which mean's short by two
feet. Then we took out the measuring tapes........

Sean, we've seen samples of your welding,
and we all hang in there tough together around here,
so I suspect the only thing we can do since it appears '56 accidently ordered the wrong model,
is to get our chop saws and mig welders and start driving to Santa Cruz tonite.
Shoot, by the time we're done with his extension of the trailer, we probably will be pretty good welders, maybe ..

Welll..let's just say I have my good days and bad days welding. Certification is NOT available with what I do (I bought it because I got a sandrail!). But, given the circumstances, and generally I always leave this up to the gals, but if he needs an extra 24 inches...

I hope he got the siding that stretches! The roof should be rubber, so I think with a couple of good come-alongs, we can take care of it!

don't be pessimistic and think its just a wrong decal,
these are times when we need to start fabricating (ehhh, i meant fabricating on his trailer, not our story. yeee haww)

OK, Well....I've got a cutting torch and welder ready. Lets see....Who's good at gel coat repair?

i don't think i'm too mistaken when i say that a plaz cutter and welder should work just fine on gel coat, i believe.
afterall, how bad could it look

You're not mistaken at all...a little bondo...some spraypaint (hopefully at least a color somewhat close, but you gotta do what you gotta do), a LOT of silicone, and it's be as good as new.

You know...I think he's either fainted or heavily drinking- we better go up there now and get started- that way, when he wakes up he can faint or start drinkin' again.
