We have been looking at a 2001 Dynasty and it had a lot of wind noise that seemed to be coming around the front door. Anyone have any thoughts on if that is fixable?
Also, it had a squeak in the steering wheel when turning either a little or a lot. Any thoughts on that issue also?
Thanks
Wayne

Wayne -- I have a 07 Camelot & the wind noise was terrible -- Took it to a local dealer, with very little difference -- When I was in Harrisburg at the Monaco Service Center, the techs did a road test, & they did a great job on solving the noise problem -- Even though your coach is out of warranty, it would be advisable to take to a Monaco Service Center for repairs -- They know what the`re doing, & the shop labor is less that a dealer -- Good Luck -- Bill Willard

Wayne,
One source of wind noise from around the front door area was from the entry door awning "legs". If your awning legs are a "U" channel, you might try filling the channel with some of the foam pipe insulation, cut to fit. That was done on mine by the previous owner and I have no wind noise from that area. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I also have an 01 Dynasty, and there is significant wind noise at the door...had it looked at a couple of times, and frankly, it didn't solve the problem. The next rally I go to, I will ask Monaco to look at it also...
the best solution I found was a loud radio

My 07 HR also has a horrible wind noise while driving that I'd like to eliminate.

It would be very helpful to learn how to eliminate the wind noise around the entry door. Our '03 Diplomat came from the factory with two small sections of the foam insulation placed into the awning support channel. I installed additional foam, filling the channel from top to bottom which help considerably, but still have some noise, apparently from the door itself.

My Diplomat does not have the noise problem, but I think I know why, and it may help you. I have an over door manual door awning with one of the arms attached just in front of the door. Running from top to bottom of the door frame is a angled piece attached to the frame. This forces the wind out and around the door, and is there to eliminate wind. It was factory installed. To give you an idea of what it is, it is like a ½ inch angle iron strip, only it is either thin aluminum, or more likely, very hard plastic. It works very well.
Of course, you could just have a poorly fitting door, or a bad or worn door gasket.

the squeek is from the plastic edge of the lower plastic housing rubbing on the upper plastic housing of the steering column.spray silicone solves that problem.
some noise can be generated thru the locking mech behind the front strut of the door awning. the hole in the sliding lock acts like an orfice to generate noise at different levels and tones dependent upon highway speed. took me a long time to figure that one out.

My previous motorhome was a 1999 Fleetwood Discovery. That era Discovey was famous for noise around the door area. (They've since corrected it.) Here is a list of things I did to resolve the problem on my coach. A couple of these are specific to to the coach and may not apply to a Monaco, but some owners with "door noise" may find some useful hints there.

One thing to try is to run a piece of tape along the front edge of the door frame and see if that makes a difference. I had some noise on mine and tried that. I used 2 inch wide electrical tape. It cut the noise almost completely. On mine the door frame does not sit completely flat against the body. That little gap was causing my noise. I then filled the gap with sealer and put 3/4" pinstripe tape over that. The tape matches the door frame and is really hard to notice.

I read on another post that the dealer put rv gutter (the vinyl self sticking kind) on the edge of the door hinge with good results. Its supposed to direct the air around the door...Bruce

Our 04 HR Imperial had a bit of noise but is less annoying than the squeeking due to the door "working" in the frame while traveling. The coach was delivered with the foam inserts in the door awning arms but had anther probelm develop. The little arms that fold into the awning arm (they keep the awning open when deployed) are held in with velcro. It isn't strong enough to hold them in place and the come out and "knock" on the side of the coach. Provided for a lot of the sight gags where we look at each other and exclaim in unison, "what now?". I secure them with a tyrap around the awning arm now.
The only other noise we have is a whistle that develops about 30mph and goes away at about 40-50 mph. I've done a lot of things to stop it but no joy!! Fortunately, it's not annoying.
